Hello Dubai.....

13th-17th March 2013

So we gone from one extreme to another and Dubai seems a million miles away from Uganda but it would be a lie to say we are not enjoying the luxury.
We have had an amazing first day in Dubai! Everything so big and new! We can't believe how perfect, clean and dust free it is!
Yesterday we visited the Dubai Mall it was like nothing we had ever seen before it was soo big!! It was is also incredible to see proper shops and window shopping was only just satisfactory we are planning a proper shopping on saturday!
We then met Jez (megans mums best friends nephew!) who was incredibly helpful and gave us a few insider tips! We are so thankful for his help and we hope we didn't talk him out to much as he was the first english person we had seen in 7 weeks. You can imagine how much we had to say! Eeeek!
In the afternoon we did 'the walk' in Jumeirah, then had cocktails and nachos in the Mariott hotel where we got an amazing view of the palm! We also got so amazing henna!!
Later on we saw a spectacular fountain show at the dubai mall. It really was phenomenual (so much so that megan walked into a sign post while watching the show!!..what a numpty!) and made us realise we were actually in Dubai! Somehow we managed to get into the Burj Khalifa! Were not really sure if we were meant to be there but we got escorted to the 122nd floor to the at.mosphere bar where we served cocktails and nuts! The view was breathtaking, and made our knees wobble! We felt slightly out of place with rucksack and camera while everyone else was dressed in very posh evening wear...but we didn't care! We viewed the fountain from the 122nd floor which gave us an even better view of the show.
Today we had lengthy lie in till 8.30am, enjoyed a huge buffet breakfast and swam in the roof top pool seeming as the metro does not run until 2pm as fridays are a religious day of rest in Dubai. The metro has really been our lifesaver, it is like the tube but better and cleaner! We can hop on it at anytime and go anywhere we like!
Tonight we are planning on doing a dinner cruise from the Dubai Marina and tomorrow we are visiting old Dubai!
Signing out for now but heres a few pictures to keep amused!
